The society uses signs to inform or warn people of their behaviours, on the roads, in the parks,… everywhere. When it comes to little kids, parents and kindergarten teachers orally correct their behaviours, repetitively and tirelessly. There was hardly any sign specially designed for small children. I doubted if signs would also work for kids when we make them simple and interesting enough. And thus, I made this icon set for a kindergarten, aiming to help guide and remind kids of good behaviours after the teacher had already told them the correct ways to behave. I wanted to make the signs interesting and colour appealing to kids, so that they would be willing to voluntarily follow the instructions. This set of five icons were derived from the scenarios where kids’ behaviours could be guided simply by signs rather than a teacher’s constant verbal assistance.
