This project was a package design for Buccellum - a premium gourmet cookie brand. The package needed to reflect its premium quality, while I also wanted to add a ‘humorous’ spirit to the design to make it less ‘serious’ and more distinctive; to break through the massive competition in the market. Biscuits & cookies have a long history, which were first invented as travelling food. I tried to find something that also have a long history, while at the same time having a ‘premium’ attribute to build the connection in between. I found portrait paintings could be the thing, that had a long history and used to primarily memorialise the rich and powerful. To make the design more lively and interesting, I put a ‘hand’ at the box opening area, and made the character looks toward the hand on each package.
